Student Technology Use – Plain‑Language Summary
2026–2027 School Year
Wa He Lut Indian School provides students with school‑owned technology to support learning. This may include devices, chargers, accessories, school accounts, internet access, and educational software.
Each student is assigned their own school device for the school year. The student is responsible for using and taking care of the assigned technology every day until it is returned to the school.
School technology is for learning and school communication only. Students are expected to follow school rules and staff directions when using school devices.
The student and family are responsible for keeping the device and all accessories safe, charged, clean, and in good working condition. If the device is damaged, lost, stolen, broken, or not returned, the student or family may be responsible for repair or replacement costs. Damage caused by misuse, rough handling, food or liquids, pets, unauthorized repairs, or negligence may result in a fee. Normal wear and tear or equipment malfunction may be handled by the school.
Assigned technology is for the student only and may not be shared with friends, siblings, or others. Parents or guardians may help with schoolwork but should not use the device for personal purposes.
Technology must be used in safe and respectful ways. This means no bullying, harassment, threats, or harmful messages; no inappropriate language or images; no searching for or sharing inappropriate content; no cheating or copying work without credit; and no using someone else’s account or password.
School technology, accounts, and internet access are managed and monitored by the school. Students may not change settings, disable filters, install unauthorized apps, or try to bypass security or damage school systems.
There is no expectation of privacy when using school technology, accounts, or internet access. The school may monitor and review activity, files, and communications at any time.
If technology rules are not followed, consequences may include limited or lost technology access, school discipline, a parent or guardian meeting, and responsibility for repair or replacement costs.
All school‑issued technology and accessories must be returned when requested, when a student leaves the school, or at the end of the school year.
