ESEA Parents Right-to-Know

Elementary and Secondary Education Act

In accordance with the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), parents and guardians have the right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of their child’s classroom teachers.

This information includes:

Whether the teacher has met state qualification and licensing criteria;

Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status;

The teacher’s college major and any advanced degrees held; and

Whether the student is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.

Parents and guardians also have the right to be notified if their child has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who does not meet applicable state certification or licensure requirements.

Wa He Lut Indian School provides required annual notifications to families as outlined by federal and state law. These notices include information related to student rights, educational programs, assessments, and school accountability.
